Why essential oils are used in skincare

4 min read

Essential oils are among the oldest ingredients in the history of personal care. Long before skincare became an industry, aromatic plants were distilled, infused and pressed for the simple pleasure of their scent.

In our formulations, essential oils are chosen first for the atmosphere they create. A warm, resinous note can slow the breath. A bright citrus note can make a morning feel a little lighter. Scent is the part of a ritual you remember most clearly.

Because they are concentrated, essential oils are used in small, carefully measured amounts and always balanced within a base of nourishing oils and butters. We keep our blends restrained: a handful of notes, chosen to work together rather than compete.

If your skin is sensitive, we always recommend patch testing a new product on a small area first. A ritual should feel comfortable from the very beginning.
